Provenance of the power indication on the registration certificate in relation to the power source or fuel type

The indication of power on the Luxembourg registration certificate under the heading "P.2. Power" is taken from the European Certificate of Conformity issued by the vehicle manufacturer. The European Certificate of Conformity is commonly known as the COC. The power is expressed in "kw". To convert kw (kilowatt) into hp (horsepower), the kw value must be multiplied by 1.36.

For internal combustion vehicles (petrol, diesel or natural gas), the indication of power under "P.2. Power" in the registration certificate is taken from item 27.1 "maximum net power" in the European Certificate of Conformity.

For hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the indication of power in item "P.2. Power" in the Registration Certificate is taken only from item 27.1 "maximum net power" of the European Certificate of Conformity. As the main engine is the internal combustion engine, the additional power of the electric motor is not included in the registration certificate. To find out the additional power of the electric motor, please refer to items 27.3. and 27.4. of the vehicle's European Certificate of Conformity.

In the case of electric vehicles, the power indication in item "P.2. Power" in the registration certificate is taken from item 27.4. "maximum net power over 30 minutes" in the European Certificate of Conformity. For the maximum net power of the electric motor, please refer to item 27.3. of the European Certificate of Conformity of the vehicle.
