When the holder or owner of a vehicle registered in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg moves to another EU member State and wishes to register the vehicle in his/her new country of residence, the vehicle's registration certificate, drawn up in the Grand Duchy, can be used to re-register the vehicle in another EU member State in accordance with the provisions of Council Directive 1999/37/EC of 29 April 1999 on the registration documents for vehicles.
Following registration of the vehicle abroad, the holder or owner is required to inform the SNCA in sight to deregistering of the vehicle in Luxembourg.
Supporting documents
In order to deregister a vehicle following a move abroad, applicants are required to inform the SNCA by post:
- the form declaring that the vehicle has been deregistered (Déclaration de mise hors circulation), duly completed and signed;
- a photocopy of the foreign vehicle's registration certificate;
- the passport or ID card of the holder, owner or keeper of the vehicle;
